Carnelian Jewelry
Carnelian is a typically orange variety of chalcedony and a member of the quartz family. Carnelian can also come in colors such as creamy white, ochre, rust, and brownish-red. While carnelian of a deep red color does exist, most very red stones have been heat treated to enhance their color.
Symbolism, Legend, and Healing Properties: Carnelian is said to enhance desire and passion. It was once used as a safety charm for travelers. Carnelian was also thought to purify the blood.
